An e-commerce retailer in the DIY sector purchases a large number of products from us. Among other things, we are also allowed to supply the complete stuffing material. When analyzing the sales figures, our sales consultant Benjamin Vögtler noticed that the company a six-figure sum (!) for tamping material issued.
That seemed pretty high to him and he wanted to get to the bottom of it.
And indeed, the employees used much more stuffing material than was actually necessary during packaging. It would be sensible to form the stuffing material into snails and only place it in the box where it actually makes sense.
The entire box does not have to be filled with stuffing material.
Benjamin Vögtler offered the retailer training on how to use the tamping paper correctly.
In the end, the company managed to halve the cost of the tamping material and save 40% of the material by using cheaper material.
In addition, the e-commerce retailer usually uses the original packaging for merchandise without repackaging the goods.
It is important that training knowledge is not lost due to natural staff turnover. That's why Benjamin trains the team regularly.
These simple measures have led to massive cost savings for our customer. In addition, less material is used, which also protects the environment.
Of course, these measures have meant that we have had to accept a large drop in sales at the same time. But that doesn't bother us. After all, our top priority is that our customers achieve their cost and sustainability targets with us as their partner.
